A Mission To End Pancreatic Cancer

Thank you in advance for your donation. This is something that we would have never fathomed we would need to do, but here we are... Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2022. As anyone could imagine, it was devastating news for our family. Something you cannot comprehend is the thought of possibly losing someone you love. Once we were able to gather more information, the doctors determined his case was unique and more difficult to address. His mass is wrapped around his arteries which makes his case more difficult to attack. With all the information we were given, we still stayed faithful and hopeful that there would be a way. A way to make his case turn into a miracle. He endured many chemo treatments and radiation. We traveled to different cities to get second opinions and feedback from specialists who could show us a different path.

JOSUE E CORTEZ (OCT 6,1961-OCT 24, 2023)

Dad was the most hardworking, caring, thoughtful man you would encounter. He was everything a dad should be. He was everything a grandpa should be. He was there, present and impacted so many people with this gift. Through the process, which had taken a toll, he had remained faithful, knowing God had a plan and standing firm in that, he had remained positive; living his life with gratefulness, and remained grounded; we know that the diagnosis affected him in ways we couldn't understand, but his light was so prevalent that no one knew his struggle.

Dad was called home on October 24, 2023, and although we do not understand why, we want to remain faithful. In doing so, we want to keep his memory alive. We feel that our support to PANCAN will allow us to partner with an organization that is helping families like ours get through. With donations they will be able to do more research and provide more help to families who are currently in the situation we were in. We feel hopeful that dad would be proud, and that this a small step towards healing and keeping his memory alive.
